Publication History
- The Chronicles of Nightfire, Texas #13 "The Mines of Sangra Dios" was published
through GlennSladeClarkJr.com as a free PDF e-book on September 11, 2008. This was the first episode of the series published
since the decision had been made to retire the print editions of e-books moving forward. It was therefore produced in the
new e-book trade trim size, breaking form with the e-books produced to match the CafePress.com paperbacks.
- On December 16, 2010, "The Mines of Sangra Dios" was published in paperback afterall. The
decision to put out a paperback followed an epic Web site crash on August 20, in which a number of works, along
with the Web site itself, were feared lost forever. While copies of all missing stories were located in one form or another,
the decision was made to offer print editions of all e-books moving forward, without exception. The paperback of
"The Mines of Sangra Dios" was a direct print translation of the e-book, matching niether the trim size of previous installments
nor the A5 trim size of recent releases/re-releases. The plan was to eventually reformat the paperback to match the current
A5 line of paperbacks.
- The subtlety of the cover art, with the jagged jaws submerged in and surrounded by varying
shades of red, was lost in translation from digital to print. As a result, the cover image was darkened for the second edition.
- A second edition of "The Mines of Sangra Dios" was released in both Kindle
e-book and paperback formats on September 24, 2012. The paperback was made available exclusively through GlennSladeClarkJr.com
via Lulu.com.
