Trivia
- “The Gift” was originally told orally
by the author for a youth worship service. It wasn’t written down until several weeks later.
- The youth worship service where the story was born used the song “Blasphemous Rumours” by
Depeche Mode to start the youth looking at some atrocities in the world which may or may not show God to have a “sick sense of humour.” The story brought home the point
that we don’t always get help in just the way we ask for it, and we don’t ever fully understand the motivations
of God.
